Heather Rabbatts believes that continual learning is essential to becoming a successful leader. “We need to keep asking ourselves the basic questions in order to become a successful, rather than becoming bogged down with the larger issues. By asking the basic questions, we begin to know ourselves and our limitations”. If you are seeking to lead changes you must send a signal to people that things will change. Making the difference tangible is crucial as people can actually see what is happening which is important in gaining support. Authenticity is about what connects us to each other, and all leaders should seek to be authentic. You also need to gain perspective. Leaders should always take time reflect in other environments away from the workplace. You need a trusted place to gain perspective, by gaining perspective you develop leadership skills. Learning from all the things you have done right and been successful in addition to all the things you have done wrong and failed upon.
”Perspective is the only way that you can keep the compass in the right direction”.
